We’re in Green Bay right now, having traveled to Antigo and Wittenberg through a bona fide Wisconsin snowstorm in order to interview Larry Steckbauer and chase down bacon. I just took a moment to consider our edible inventory, and it somehow appears to have grown to the following:
SarVechhio, 2 pieces — Acquired after interviewing Steckbauer. One of our favorite cheeses for quite some time.
Sartori Asiago, 2 pieces — See above, although we’re less familiar with the asiago. Looking forward to getting more familiar with it.
Bacon, 8 pounds, from three different stores — With Nueske’s just being one of the numerous good meat shops around here, it’s pretty hard to hold back. Note that we’re planning to give a lot of this bacon away. Probably.
Beer, 6 bottles — Brought from home.
Pork Chops, about four — Acquired at an Antigo meat shop.
Ham Snack Stick and Landjaeger Snack Stick — See above. Both are consumed, but I’m including them in the interest of full disclosure.
Natural casing wieners, one pound — Antigo. Steckbauer said they were good. We trust him.
Artisanal Lemon Drops — Bought at the Nueske’s shop. Can’t pass up good lemon drops.
Raspberry Kringle — Also from Nueske’s, by way of Racine. Again…nothing livens up a hotel room like kringle.
Man, I hope we don’t need to find room for more cheese in the cooler.
An 8 lb. Chocolate Bunny — From Seroogy’s, priced at 75% off. That’s eight pounds of good chocolate for about $11. Bunny-shaped or not, that’s a steal.
About 2 lbs. of Easter meltaway bars — See above. Also 75% off.
Mozzarella, provolone (two varieties), American Grana, parmesan and possibly other varieties of cheese — From the amazingly hospitable folks at Belgioioso.
Only through divine intervention did we manage to avoid buying bratwurst in Sheboygan.
SECOND UPDATE, 4/1:
Two dozen mini cinnamon rolls, in raw dough form — plus cream cheese frosting, from Downtown Dough in Cedarburg.
Spotted Cow, 6 bottles — Acquired at a random gas station on the drive home to Minneapolis.
